Bachelor of Social Work (BSocWk)

Veronica is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, registered with AASW.  Veronica also has a background in studying Sociology and Psychology prior to completing her Bachelor of Social Work which enhances her ability to consider issues from a systemic perspective.

Veronica has also completed a two year Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Family Therapy. She has worked in the mental health sector for 10 years. This includes 6 years working with WA Health in Community Mental Health, Inpatient Mental Health, and the emergency department’s Mental Health Observation Unit (MHOA) as part of the Self Harm and Crisis Counselling Service (SHACCS) team at SCGH.

Since 2020 Veronica has worked as a Counsellor including 3 years providing psychotherapy in a men’s health service before transferring to the women’s service. Prior to entering the mental health arena Veronica spent 15 years working in the Work Health and Safety Industry, coordinating Workers Compensation and Return to Work Programs for several large government departments.

Veronica takes an integrative and relational approach to therapy.  She has also completed specialist training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as well as Schema Therapy to enhance her work with individuals who have experienced trauma (either during childhood or as an adult).  Furthermore, she is experienced with evidence-based therapies including CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).

Veronica offers brief and longer-term therapy to adults, couples and families. She is particularly experienced in working with complex trauma (cPTSD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, adjustment to significant life events and grief/loss. Veronica specialises in working with individuals couples/families where one or more members have experienced trauma (including perinatal trauma).  Veronica focuses on fostering change by developing a supportive, non-judgmental and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

When she isn’t working Veronica enjoys trying to keep her house plants alive, reading and going for walks along the coast.
