ADHD, development and behaviour

Shahin is a general paediatrician who sees infants, children and adolescents. At Pandion his work centres on ADHD and the developmental, learning and behavioural presentations that sit around it, alongside the general paediatric concerns that are well suited to telehealth.

ADHD is rarely the whole picture. Autism, learning difficulties, anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties either sit alongside it or account for the presentation outright, and separating them is the substance of the assessment. At Pandion these are screened as standard rather than treated as an optional extra, and where ADHD is not the right answer the family is told so clearly, with an explanation of what comes next.

How he works

Shahin takes the view that good paediatric care considers the whole child: their health, their development, how they are actually managing day to day, the home around them, and the observations of the people who know them best. A diagnosis that ignores any of those is a diagnosis built on part of the history.

Consultations start from what the family came in worried about. He explains assessment findings in plain terms, and builds management plans that are realistic for the household they have to work in, coordinating with parents, GPs, schools and allied health professionals where that is what the plan needs.

He works at an unhurried pace and leaves room for the questions families arrive with, including the ones they are not sure they are allowed to ask.

Background and training

Shahin became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General Paediatrics in 2026.

He completed his MBBS at Government Medical College, Trivandrum, and holds DCH, DNB and MD qualifications in Paediatrics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. His experience spans paediatric and neonatal medicine in both Australian and international settings.

Before joining Pandion Health he worked across a number of Queensland hospitals, and he continues to practise in Brisbane. Through Pandion he consults with families anywhere in Australia.

He is a member of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association, the national multidisciplinary body for clinicians and researchers working in ADHD, and the organisation behind Australia’s evidence-based clinical practice guideline for ADHD.

Outside the clinic

Shahin spends his time with his wife and their two children, travels when he can, and enjoys caring for animals.
