We assess children, teens, and adults across Australia. Appointments are typically available within 2 to 4 weeks. A comprehensive report and management plan is sent to you promptly following your patient’s assessment, and we support co-prescribing, handback and ongoing shared care in line with the regulations in your state or territory.

Hi, I’m Dr Brendan Daugherty, psychiatrist and co-founder of Pandion Health. If you’re considering referring a patient to us, here’s how we work, in about a minute.

Every assessment is conducted by an FRANZCP psychiatrist or an FRACP paediatrician across two telehealth sessions, with structured rating scales and a full developmental and psychiatric history. We screen the common differentials, such as anxiety, depression, autism, trauma and learning difficulties, and if it isn’t ADHD, we’ll tell you and your patient exactly that.

After the assessment, you’ll receive a detailed report, and where medication is started, eScripts go out within 1 to 3 business days. Most patients are seen within several weeks of referral.

Then you choose the ongoing arrangement. We can hand care back to you with a full clinical summary, share care with you prescribing and us providing specialist review, or continue managing patients ourselves. Handback isn’t discharge. If a question comes up months later, you can contact us directly. We also have a full multidisciplinary team to assist with comprehensive care.

Referrals come through HealthLink, HealthShare, or a standard referral by email or fax, with the usual history and any prior assessments. And if you’d rather talk it through first, call the practice and we will assist you. The details are just below this video.

How shared care and co-prescribing work

We are committed to working alongside you, not around you. Assessment is the beginning of a patient’s ADHD care, not the end of it, and the arrangement that follows is decided with you rather than presented to you.

Following assessment there are three ways ongoing care can be arranged. Which one applies is decided case by case, based on clinical complexity, your comfort with ongoing management, and your patient’s preference.

Handback to you

Where you are comfortable taking on ongoing management, we hand care back with a full clinical summary and support the co-prescribing arrangement in line with the regulations in your state or territory.

Shared management

You manage day-to-day prescribing and monitoring while we remain available for specialist review, dose or formulation questions, and any change in the clinical picture.

Continued specialist care

Where a presentation is complex, or where you or your patient would prefer it, Pandion continues specialist reviews for as long as they are clinically needed.

What you receive when care is handed back

Prescribing rules differ by state and territory

Authority requirements, co-prescribing arrangements and the conditions under which a GP can initiate or continue stimulant prescribing are set at state and territory level, and they are changing. We work within the rules that apply where you practise, and we will tell you plainly what is and is not possible in your jurisdiction.

Staying in contact after handback

Handback is not a discharge. If a question comes up about a patient we have assessed — a change in presentation, a medication issue, a monitoring result you want a second opinion on — you can reach the treating clinician through our admin team at reception@pandionhealth.com.au or (02) 9052 1888.

We will always communicate openly with you on complex or evolving presentations, and we will contact you directly rather than only through the patient where the clinical picture warrants it.

What comes back to you after the assessment

Following your patient’s assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report and management plan. This includes:
