ADHD in children, teenagers and adults
Dr Aly Soliman is a Queensland-based psychiatrist with more than a decade of clinical experience and a special interest in ADHD. Trained in child and adolescent psychiatry, Aly assesses and supports children, teenagers and adults with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, along with the anxiety and emotional difficulties that so often sit alongside them.
ADHD is rarely the only thing going on. Anxiety, low mood and difficulties with emotional regulation can sit alongside it or be mistaken for it, and working out which is which is a central part of the assessment. Through Pandion, Aly consults by telehealth with children, families and adults anywhere in Australia.
How they work
Aly brings a strong interest in psychotherapy to their psychiatric practice. Their style is relatable and down to earth, with a gentle sense of humour, and the aim in every consultation is for people to feel safe, heard and understood, including when things are complicated.
The focus is on helping people make sense of how they think, feel and learn, so that they, and for younger patients their families, can approach school, work, relationships and everyday life with a clearer understanding of themselves.
Background and training
Aly holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), with more than ten years of clinical experience in psychiatry.
Outside the clinic
Aly is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Outside work they are a committed Star Wars fan, keep active through exercise, and spend as much time as possible with their dog, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
